Intro by Jimmy Bullough : 1927 - 2005

Don and I were first introduced after a night rally in 1965, we both had been rallying for years with good results. Little did we know what was in store for us over the years to come. It was obvious from our first event together that we would gel as a team. A good rally crew simlpy consists of driver, navigator, car and a back up team, Don looked after the office side, maps, route details, timing and pace notes etc. I looked after the preparation of the car, and all that is involved. At the start of events we had little time for anything except the Rally, with one objective in mind, to win.

One other important factor, without which we would never have got started was the total support of our wives Barbara and Gill, who allowed us to go Rallying, for which we will be eternally grateful.

During the years to follow we won the BTRDA Gold Star Championship twice, the BTRDA Silver Star Championship twice, the Motoring News Championship twice, the RAC Rally Championship and our 3rd overall position on the 1968 RAC Rally, clinched for Ford, The 1968 European Rally Championship.

Don's navigation was incredible - even in fog - he would count me down to a junction with 400, 300, 200, 100 - in Now. A great strategic tactician who was always spot on.

Thank you Don for the many years and thousands of Rally miles we did together, during which we never had a cross word, well almost. Also for your continued support to motor sport, which must give encouragement to all future Navigators and Co-Drivers alike.

Eulogy.....Sadly, Jim Bullough one of the 1960s successful rally drivers passed away on Saturday night after battling with the dreaded C. Jim, a warm hearted and generous family man who started rallying in 1955 and enjoyed competing for 18 years with a variety of cars from Vauxhall Cresta's, Sunbeam Rapiers, MK1 Lotus Cortina�s and a very famous MK1 Escort Twin Cam�.Jim competed on numerous Monte Carlo rallies in the 1950 - 1970 era and he won many Championships including the coveted Motoring News Championship twice and in 1967 he scored a triple with the RAC Rally Championship, Motoring News Championship and the BTRDA Silver Star Championship and in 1970 the BTRDA Gold Star Championship and Motoring News Championship....In 1968 he finished 3rd o/a on the RAC Rally and also competed on the World Cup Rally in 1970....Retiring from motorsport in 1973. A very talented driver who won more rallies than most folk would ever dream about, always kind hearted and generous both in winning or losing, a true gentleman to the core, Jim leaves his wife Barbara, son Roderick and Louise, his daughter Joanna and Chris and his adored grand children�..Don Barrow. 06-06-2005

Jim is named as one of Bolton's Sporting Heroes on the memorial outside the Reebock Stadium, Horwich, Bolton.
